This fully digital Google Slides™ resource helps students to determine the emotions and feelings of others by interpreting body language and reading the expressions in their eyes, inferring what is under the mask. In this new world of masks and COVID 19 safety rules, teach students how to communicate with others.

Kids need facial feedback from grown-ups to know that they are on the right track. Often students look to educators and adults for a quick approving smile to know they are on the right track or that their adults are happy with them. In the world of masks covering half our faces, it can be really hard for kids to know how others are feeling. Without being able to rely on facial cues, kids can occasionally misinterpret the feelings and emotions of others.

Slide Breakdown:

• Slide 1:  Intro Page
• 2 – 3:  Allow students to drag and drop masks into different places to see the full facial expression tied to each emotion.
• 4 – 5:  Introduce students to the concept of body language and point out what key factors students should pay attention to be able to tell how others are feeling.
• 6 – 101:  Include interactive drag and drop or type in your answer activities that allow students to explore the body language tied to each emotion

This Google Slides™ resource is designed to help kids practice reading body language and eye expressions to determine emotions in others. There are 101 slides included that challenge students to write or drag and drop their answers as they point out body language to identify how others may be feeling. Also, feel free to use all slides or modify the slide count to fit your student’s needs.
