It is so interesting to me how
unique and different each and every student is from the next. Little kids have
so much personality and are so strong willed; much more than those who don’t work
with them all day would think. They always surprise me and always keep me on my
toes.

I have used my Walk a Mile cards
with dozens of students.
It usually looks like this:
with dozens of students.
It usually looks like this:
Step One: Dump cards face down on table.
Step Two: Pick a card, talk about the described scenario and
the emotions it evokes.
the emotions it evokes.
Step Three: Put card back in box.
Step Four: Repeat.
This little guy was having no part of my disorganized chaos.
He could not wrap his mind around answering questions until
the cards were in perfect order.
the cards were in perfect order.
By the time he was ready to start, it was basically time for
him to go back to class.
him to go back to class.
Next time we met, I got smart and prearranged the cards for
him so that he just had to make a few minor adjustments and was then able to
start pretty quickly. I love learning the quirks of my students so that I can
make accommodations that not only save time, but make them more comfortable.

I have a feeling I am really going to enjoy meeting with
this little guy this year.
